Public Works / Transportation maintains all public property (including the public streets, facilities, right-of-ways and medians) within the City limits and is responsible for storm water maintenance. The Public Works / Transportation Department issues permits for all utility work within the public right-of-way in the City, and is also responsible for fleet maintenance. The department also performs numerous City wide projects providing technical and operational support to all City department needs.

In keeping with the City’s philosophy of operating the government as a business, most of the public services are provided by contracting services to the private sector.
